A white guy with glasses and curly brown hair is lying on his back in the grass, surrounded by tiny white flowers. He's smiling because he knows that there are many more ways to collaborate than we think there are.

build a workplace that works for change-makers, not against them

Empower your team of change workers to navigate challenges together and move forward in alignment, trust and psychological safety.

WORKPLACES THAT WORK FOR change-makers, NOT AGAINST THEM

As the team grows, suddenly information keeps getting stuck, values and principles become fuzzy and things feel less aligned. Your purpose seems more and more out of reach.

Some days it feels like no compromise is good enough to satisfy every passionate change worker on the team. How do we keep working together without bitterness and loss of trust?

You set out to make a positive impact but the need to turn a profit is pushing you to make more and more compromises all the time…

You have to adjust your messaging to get enough money, without it soon there won’t be a team to worry about… How do you even avoid burning out under this pressure?

Feeling alone and utterly unsupported by conventional commercial wisdom surrounding change work. Discussions of CSR, ESG and the triple bottom line feel completely out of touch with reality…

DID I TOUCH A NERVE HERE?

Listen. You’re not alone. I’ve been there. Most change worker teams I know are actively there as we speak.

I promise it’s not all doom and gloom. With a commitment to intentionality, deep critical introspection and the right tools, these tensions can be navigated.

But not without having hard and honest conversations.

While every team is unique, there are a few similarities.

You want to work with people who care about the impact of what they do.

You want to work with a team that is different: daring, creative, effective.

You want to leave the world a better place than you found it.

I help teams like yours address the underlying tensions and navigate the choppy waters of building an organisation of great potential and a lasting positive footprint. Together, we explore the tools that best suit where you’re at and the unique challenges you’re facing.

WITH TOOLS SUCH AS:

Structural organisational trust

Organic learning principles

Inclusion and Belonging

Radical hope

Research

Cognitive flexibility

Shamelessly asking all the questions

Workshop facilitation

Relentlessly cheering you on

services

Education for teams and leaders

COACHING
(AND CHEERLEADING?)

Are you a change worker doing your best to navigate the tensions between purpose and business directives, still feeling like it’s not enough? You don’t have to do it on your own.

Culture audit and strategic planning

Working closely with the team and leveraging qualitative and quantitative methods, I can support you as you build the organisation of your dreams.

PSST, A SECRET, FOR NOW.

I’m cooking up something specifically for change workers to help foster deep introspection and create action plans. Want to stay in the loop?

A radical optimist determined to shift conversations

With a winding and adventurous background in research, linguistics, DEI, leadership and organisational psychology, I’m here to unite my research skills, systems thinking brain and my passion in the service of unshittifying workplaces. With many years of experience in the sustainability and social impact space of the Nordics, I have a nuanced insight into how the sausage is made, so to speak.

And, look. I’ve also been a manager and leader in this space. It’s a difficult balancing act. I’ve made all the mistakes before finding a way to build strong trust within the team and with that, a whole new quality of personal and professional collaboration, leading to organic learning and new ways of knowledge management. I had some amazing mentors along the way, and I’m itching to pay it forward.

Let me cheer you on, as you build the team of your dreams!

One last thing… I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and honestly, I don’t want to be. If you’re not the type of person who is cool with being challenged on the things you’ve always taken for granted, we’re not a good fit.

On the other hand, if you just can’t let go of the feeling that we CAN do better than whatever passes for a tolerable workplace and a bearable manager today… yeah. I’m right there with you.

here’s what others are saying…..

Emil joined me at Dreamcraft for a 6 months project. During that time we worked very closely for both internal and external purposes linked to internal communication, structural trust, company culture and DEI.

The whole experience has been tremendous and Emil was able to support me in operationalising the above subjects.

His ability to drill deep in challenges and come up with tailored solutions makes him an asset for any type of organisation.

His background and expertise brings an impactful toolbox to issues that all early stage organisations are facing or will face.

I recommend this class to everyone!

The first class was so enlightening with immense content to cover that we did a second session! One may think some things to be obvious but once you start listening, you realise how much unlearning we all have to do first to even think we are near being actively inclusive people.

I do not think gender inclusion topics can be covered in a few days but I hope we can at least start somewhere. Let us start here. I also suggest that we start looking at how we learn things we also think are automatic to grasp and make changes, if our goal is to end oppression.

This is only the beginning. Thank you, Emil!

I had the distinct privilege to attend a leadership MasterClass on unconscious bias and the importance of including an inclusive approach to building a strong workforce with Emil as part of a duo of very strong presenters. He was very engaging and I not only learned a lot in this presentation, but learned how much more I need to learn! I would recommend Emil wholeheartedly for anyone looking for an inspirational speaker who really knows what he is talking about!
